198 bariatric operations in patients with alimentary constitutional obesity were done. Age of patients ranged from 28 to 58 years, an average of 43,3±6 years. The average weight of operated patients was 141+12 kg. The average body mass index (BMI) was 49,9+5,2 kg/m2. When the BMI exceeded 50 kg/m2, we performed the gastric bypass by Torres-Oca in 50 patients. We used the method of biliopancreatic bypass in 3 patients (when the BMI was over 60 kg/m2). We performed a modified technique of gastric bypass in 12 patients. Before the operation a diabetes type 2 was detected in 75 operated patients. Violation of glucose tolerance was diagnosed in 123 patients. Within 2 years after gastric banding we observed reduction in body weight of patients with 44.8±4.8 kg/m2 to 28.2±3.6 kg/m2. Persistent lowering glucose to normal performance was detected in 174 (88%) patients.
